About
Formed in 1915, the Women’s Institute was originally brought to life to revitalise rural communities and encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then the organisation’s aims have broadened and the WI is now the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK.
Join Us
We are a small friendly evening WI, meeting in Kenilworth Town Centre and part of the Warwickshire Federation of the Women’s Institute. We have a book club, craft club, walking group and supper club. Everyone is very welcome to join us at 7.30pm on the third Wednesday monthly and we actively encourage visitors. We recommend you contact us to plan your visit before you come so that we know to expect you and can make sure you’re welcomed. You are very welcome to attend as a guest for up to two meetings, there will be no pressure to become a member. Please use the ‘Contact’ page to get in touch.
We meet at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 110 Warwick Road, Kenilworth, CV8 1HL. Free Parking is available in the well lit car park outside the building. For directions follow this link.
As a WI member, you will enjoy a varied programme. Every member can contribute ideas to the annual programme of speakers, activities and events – the options are only limited by your imagination! Each WI holds eleven meetings every year and you can also get involved in the various regional and national level events and activities. You’re sure to find something that interests you!
Your membership entitles you to eight copies a year of the WI membership magazine, WI Life, as well as regular newsletters and mailings to keep you up-to-date with all the news and events from your federation (a small charge may apply) and the NFWI. One unforgettable event not to be missed is the NFWI Annual Meeting, which brings together representatives from WIs all over the country to review the work of the organisation and vote on the resolutions that form the backbone of the NFWI’s campaigns.
Don’t forget that Kenilworth WI also has a presence on FACEBOOK and if you are a user you can join the conversation there. Some of our interesting contributions will also appear on our Facebook page to reach a wider audience.
