Diary 1986. Some more finds from the Kenilworth WI past! Below is a copy of the carboard diary produced each year, (and still produced – in house), showing the committee and events for 1986. Back in 1986 this was printed by a commercial printer in Essex!
WI Market. In the 1980’s there were a number of WI Markets in the area where members could display and sell their own products. Kenilworth, Leamington Spa and Balsall Common each had a market held on a Friday or Saturday morning. The Kenilworth market was at one time held in the Waverley Day Centre on Waverley Rd. Homemade foods including pies, cakes, pate, jams, fresh vegetables and eggs were just some of the food items on sale together with a selection of crafts. Each item offered for sale had to be accompanied by a small form, a copy of which appears on the left. Today these markets are known as ‘Country Markets’ and there about 150 in England & Wales including Leamington Spa & Balsall Common.
